Huaqiangbei's origins trace back to a factory road in the Shangbu Industrial Zone during Shenzhen's early days as a Special Economic Zone. Its legendary journey began in 1988, when the nation's first electronic components market — SEG Electronics Market — was born here. This seemingly modest beginning marked the start of China's electronics industry "Huaqiangbei Era."
One of the most iconic symbols is the "1-meter counter." Countless entrepreneurs with big dreams started their businesses behind counters just 1.2 meters wide, writing countless rags-to-riches stories. This is also where technology giants like Tencent, DJI, and Han's Laser got their start. After more than three decades of development, Huaqiangbei was officially awarded the title of "China's No.1 Electronics Street" in 2008.
